Obituary of Sanford Clowater

The passing of Sanford Dudley Clowater of New Bandon, NB, husband of H. Mildred (Price) Clowater occurred on June 28, 2011 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on August 22, 1915 in New Bandon, NB, he was the son of the late Henry and Bessie (Reid) Clowater. He was a member of St. James the Greater Anglican Church, Ludlow, NB. Sanford owned and operated Clowaters Grocery in New Bandon for many years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family, he also enjoyed going for drives to see the Miramichi and Cains River in later years. In addition to his wife of 72 years, Mildred, Sanford is survived by his daughters, Joan (Harold) Curley of Doaktown, NB, Donna (Raymond) Ward, Kimberly (Lance) Wiebe all of Fredericton, NB; sons, Merville (Sharon) Clowater of Doaktown, NB, James (Wilma) Clowater of Fredericton, NB, Harley (Debbie) Clowater of Hamilton, ON and Arden (Karen) Clowater of New Bandon, NB; grandchildren, Lana (Ross) Forbes, Harold (Shirley) Curley Jr., Kathryn (Robin) Sharpe, Rob Ward, Chelsea Wiebe, Krista (Tyler) Wasson, Jeremy (Lisa) Clowater, Gena, Daniel (Naomi) and Sarah Clowater, Joshua Clowater, Katelyn and Kristopher Clowater; 11 great grandchildren; sister, Viola Munn of Marysville, NB; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Paulette, great grandson, Matthew Forbes; infant siblings, May and Leo: brother, Milburn Clowater; sisters, Hazel Stewart, Fern True, Florence Trail and Gladys O’Leary. Visitation will take place at Miramichi Valley Funeral Home, New Bandon on Thursday, June 30, 2011 from 3-6 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at St. James the Greater Anglican Church, Ludlow on Friday, July 1, 2011 at 2 pm with Father Andrew Fraser officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be his grandsons. Interment will take place in St. James the Greater Anglican Church Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the St. James the Greater Anglican Church, Ludlow, NB or the charity of the donor’s choice.
