Obituary of Jean Burden

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Jean Murray Burden, wife of the late Harold C. Burden on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Jean was born on February 1, 1918 in Fredericton, NB to the late Harold and Amelia (Millie Foreman) Young. She is survived by her son, H. Lawrence Burden (Wanda) of Fredericton; her daughter, Janet Steeves (Dean) of Juniper; her sisters, Phyllis Burpee and Marguarita (Rhete) Dorcas; her brother, Dr. D. Murray Young; sisters-in-law, Muriel Young, Delia Hachey and Dr. Mary Young; grandchildren, Jeremy Burden (Tara), Gregory Steeves (Melanie), Miranda Lingard (Jeffrey), Ashley Bossé (Paul); six great grandchildren; Jean is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Jean truly loved her family. Jean is also survived by many kind and thoughtful friends and neighbours who helped her remain in her own home especially, Joyce O’Hara and Shelley Reid. Jean was predeceased by siblings, Rhoda Sandberg, Sarah Grace Bawn, E. Mullan Young, Guy Young, and by niece, Iris Young and nephews, Allison Young and Edward O’Hagan. Jean lived most of her ninety-three years at Youngs’ Crossing. Jean spent her entire life caring for her many friends and family. She enjoyed keeping in contact with family, reading and watching the videos of the Gibson Memorial Church services. Although there will be no visitation by request, a Memorial Service be held from Gibson Memorial United Church, Fredericton on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 2 pm with Rev. Boyd Vincent officiating. A reception will follow at the church. Interment will take place in Taymouth Community Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
