Obituary of LeRoy Flinn

The passing of LeRoy “Roy” William Flinn of Fredericton occurred on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at Pine Grove Nursing Home. Born on September 28, 1919 in Maple Grove, he was a son of the late Harry and Georgina (Smith) Flinn. Roy was a heavy equipment operator with Ashley Colter and with the City of Fredericton up until his retirement. He is survived by two sons, Eugene (Heather) of Fredericton and Wayne (Edith) of McLeod Hill; grandchildren, Peter, Tanya, Kelly, Shelley and Johnny; several great grandchildren; two sisters, Greta Bartlett of Marysville and Glenna Jones (Eugene) of Lake George; three brothers, Edward of Fredericton, Glenwood (Annie) of Fredericton and Stanley (Marie) of Kingston, ON; several nieces and nephews and special friend, Lucy Gallant. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Marie Wagg and brothers, Lawrence and James. A Special Thank You to management and staff of Pine Grove Nursing Home for their love and excellent care given to Dad. Thank You also for the comfort and support they gave to the family during Dad’s health decline. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 from 7 to 9 pm. A Memorial Service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 2:30 pm with Rev. Gil MacKenzie officiating. Honourary Pallbearers for the service will be Elvin Holmes, Dale Ross, Barry Butler and Steve McInroy. Interment will take place in the Hillcrest United Church Cemetery, Stanley. For those who wish, remembrances made to the Pine Grove Foundation or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
