Obituary of Lloyd Morgan

With heavy hearts we announce the death of Lloyd Neil Morgan on Sunday, May 8, 2011 at home. Born in Fredericton, NB on September 16, 1954, a Devon boy by heart, Lloyd was the eldest son of Reta (Lawson) and Raymond Morgan. Lloyd will be dearly missed by his wife, Cheryl (Collins); his daughter, Jennifer and her husband, Jeremy Palmer; his son, Jason and his wife Melissa; his three grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Andrew Palmer, Lily Morgan and Ryan Palmer; his brother, Wayne and his wife Sharon; sisters, Brenda and her husband, Bob Willar, Wanda and her husband, Don Melanson; nieces, Shelley Wood (Justin), Lisa Willar-Hickey (Chris), Kelsie Burns; nephews, Chris Morgan (Becca), Matthew Morecraft (Jessica), Jesse Morecraft, Nathan Collins; and great nephew, Ethan Morecraft; and mother-in-law, Bertha Collins; sister-in-law, Cindy Collins (Bob Burns); brothers-in-law, Stephen Collins and Mike Collins. Lloyd was predeceased by his parents, grandparents, infant brother, Randy; two brothers-in-law, Lorrie Morecraft and Keith Collins; father-in-law, Bill Collins. He was a dedicated hard worker and an avid sports fan, both playing and coaching baseball and hockey. One of his greatest joys was coaching his son in both baseball and hockey. Some of his favorite pastimes were cheering for the Toronto Maple Leafs, going to the horse races and auctions; Lloyd was also a huge Nascar fan and some of you may remember him as the tow truck driver at Speedway 660 driving “The Hook” every Saturday night and also running the souvenir booth “Racing Reflections” for fourteen years. He was very proud to be the founder of the “Heroes of the Sport” recognizing the people in earlier days of racing, and he was also one of the co-founders of the Maritime Motor Sports Hall of Fame. Lloyd enjoyed hunting and fishing, he couldn’t wait to teach his grandchildren how to skate and play hockey, but his greatest love was his children, grandchildren and family. He will be sadly missed. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 from 7-9 pm and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 2 pm with Pastor Brad Collins officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be Matthew and Jesse Morecraft, Chris Morgan, Mike Collins, James Ferris and Barney Jeffrey. Interment will take place in McGivney Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation, Children’s Wish Foundation or the charity of the donor’s choice.
