Obituary of Gertrude Worrall

The passing of Gertrude May “Gertie” (MacKay) Worrall, wife of the late Frank Worrall, of Fredericton, NB, occurred peacefully on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Pine Grove Nursing Home. Born on July 1, 1916 in South Portage, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Lily Belle (McConnell) MacKay. She was a member of Devon Park Baptist Church, Kayla’s Clan – Devon Park Baptist Church Seniors Club and the Devon Seniors Shuffle Board Group. Gertie is survived by her daughter, Marion Henderson of Medicine Hat, AB; son, Ron (Charlene) of Fredericton, NB; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sister, Alma Farrer of Fredericton, NB; daughter-in-law, Carla Worrall of Fredericton, NB; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son, Doug Worrall; sisters, Pearl McGivney, Edith Banks and Della Dickeson; brother, Cecil MacKay. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Monday, July 18, 2011 from 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 10 am with Pastor Lawrence Meade officiating. Interment will take place at Fredericton Rural Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or the Pine Grove Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
