Obituary of James Forbes

The passing of James Raymond Forbes of Nashwaak Bridge, NB, husband of the late Dorothy (Ross) Forbes occurred on Friday, August 12, 2011 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on May 19, 1924 in Nashwaak Bridge, NB, he was the son of the late Raymond and Estella (McGivney) Forbes. James was a dedicated family man who enjoyed having his family close by. He was a skilled mechanic by trade however in latter years he pursued a career in the trucking industry with his son, Ross, by his side. He described this as being the best job that he ever had. In his younger years his passion for aviation prompted him to obtain his pilot’s license and with a friend he co-owned a small plane. He was also an avid curler and a founding member of the Nashwaak Curling Club. James is survived by his children, Brian (Paula) Forbes of McLeod Hill, NB, Joanne Forbes (Michael Chamberlain) of Taymouth, NB and Ross (Lana) Forbes of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Erin Forbes of Toronto, ON, Andrew (Michelle) Chamberlain of Fredericton, NB, Adam Chamberlain of Fredericton, NB, Sarah Chamberlain of Taymouth, NB and Lindsay Forbes of Fredericton, NB; one great granddaughter, Ava Chamberlain; one brother, John (Joyce) Forbes of Chatham, NB; nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Mac Forbes, Eugene Forbes and grandson, Matthew Forbes. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Tuesday August 16, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday August 17, 2011 at 2 pm with Rev. Stephen Ashfield officiating. Interment will take place in Nashwaak Bridge Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation, Alzheimer’s Society or the charity of the donor’s choice.
