Obituary of John Buchanan

The passing of John “Jack” Thomas Buchanan, husband of Pearl (MacKinnon) Buchanan, occurred on August 1, 2011 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on February 27, 1926 in Stanley, he was a son of the late Thomas and Sarah (Clary) Buchanan. Jack was a member of Stirling United Church. He spent much of his working life in the forest industry working along side horses. He enjoyed wood working as well as cross country skiing and fiddle music. He was the last surviving member of his family. In addition to his wife of 60 years, Jack is survived by his sons, Thomas (Elaine) Buchanan and Terry (Shirley) Buchanan both of Tay Creek; grandchildren, Andrew, Wanda, Craig and Vicki; great grandchildren, Taylor, Alexa, Dustin, Tiffany, Jordan, Morgan and Laura; brothers-in-law, John Lomax of Stanley and York Clarkson of British Columbia; special niece and nephews, Elaine, Brian and Brent Hayes and Brenda Henry; several other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Carole Elaine; sisters, Mona Whitlock, Glenna Weir, Marie Mitchell, Ella Lomax and Florence Clarkson; brothers, Bob Buchanan, Wilbur and George Dennison. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. A Funeral Service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, August 5, 2011 at 2 pm with Mr. Wally Ellis (DLM) officiating. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Andrew, Craig and Vicki Buchanan and Wanda Merrill and nephews, Brian Hayes and Art Mallely. Interment will take place in the Stirling United Church Cemetery, Tay Creek. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
