Obituary of George Godin
The passing of George Francis Godin of Tay Creek, NB, husband of Deanna Godin, occurred on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on June 24, 1938 in Lorne, NB, he was the son of Ella (Carrier) Godin and the late Francis Godin. He worked in security for the Department of Natural Resources. He was a member of the Marysville and Nashwaak Bridge Royal Canadian Legions. George enjoyed hunting, fishing and darts; he will be remembered as a great story teller. In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by his son, George Godin (Tanya) of Corpus Christie, Texas; daughters, Judy Green (Ron) of Hanwell, NB, Peggy Godin (Eddy Kelner) of Red Deer, AB, Brenda Godin of Moncton, NB, Esther Godin (Danny Morgan) of Nackawic, NB, Rose-Marie Losier (Fort) of Cross Creek, NB, Renee Godin (Terry Collingridge) of Burton, NB; 16 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sisters, Susan Parent (Omer Hickey) of Beresford, NB, Leona Cady (Fred) of Lorne, NB and Ines Godin (Eric) Lorne, NB; brothers, Levio Godin of Magaguadavic, NB, Kenneth Godin (Shirley) of Lorne, NB, Ivan Godin (Sandra) of Jacquet River, NB and Preston Godin of Notre Dame d’erables, NB; three aunts and several nieces and nephews. Besides his father, he was predeceased by his daughter, infant Mary Frances Godin; two infant grandchildren, Joseph Herman and Mary Deanna; sister, Rita Hickey (Norman) and his step father, Walter Godin. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive Fredericton, NB on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 from 7-9 pm and Thursday, September 29, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church on Friday, September 30, 2011 at 11am with Father Aaron Knox as celebrant. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Tay Creek, NB. Honourary Pallbearers for this service will be Eugene Kervin, Barry Walker, Gabriel Hickey, Mark Dickinson, John Stewart, Marty Hawkes, Freddy Boone and Aurele Furlotte.
