Obituary of Manley Briggs
The passing of Manley Donald Briggs of Fredericton, NB, husband of Clarice June (Moffitt) Briggs occurred on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on February 20, 1926 in York Mills, NB, he was the son of the late John H. and Tressa J. (Little) Briggs. Manley retired from CP Rail –Car Department. He was affiliated with Knox Presbyterian Church, Harvey Station, NB. Manley was a member of the Carleton Union Lodge #8 F. & A. M., Luxor Shriners, Saint John, NB, Luxor Railway Unit, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite (32 Degree), Royal Canadian Legion Branch #69 and the Fredericton Shrine Club Luxor Shriners.
In addition to his wife, Manley is survived by brother-in-law, Aubrey (Barbara) Moffitt of McAdam, NB and his many special nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Thelma Briggs; brothers, Ross and Allan Briggs; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Briggs, Lucille Briggs and Phyllis Moffitt; brother-in-law, Floyd Moffitt; nephews, Richard and Kirk Briggs.
Although there will be no visitation, a memorial service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 1 pm with Rev. Bonnie Wynn officiating. Interment will take place at Harvey Community Cemetery, Harvey, NB. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Knox Presbyterian Church or to the Luxor Shriners.
