Obituary of William Hamilton

The family of William Neilson Hamilton announces his passing on Sunday October 23, 2011 at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Fredericton, NB. Born on April 23, 1925 in Westmount Quebec, he was the son of Norman Leiper Hamilton and Florence Neilson Hamilton. He is survived by children William Jr (Karen) of Fredericton, Peter (Andrea) of Montreal, Boyd (Kathryn) of Montreal and Elizabeth of Kingston, Ontario, and their mother Shirley of Montreal. He is also survived by his sister Marguerite Foster (David) of Madison, Connecticut, and grandchildren Lindsay, Katherine, Robyn, Ryan, Amelia and Katelyn. He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Barbara Smith and Norma Sands. He was class president of the 1943 graduating class at Huntington Academy and received his BSc and BComm. from Sir George Williams College. He was a member of the Cadet Corp and served as a pilot with the RCAF during WWII. Prior to his retirement in 1990 his career included management positions with Montreal Locomotive Works, Beloit Canada and Hydro-Dynamics in the Montreal and Toronto areas. Bill loved sports. In his high school years he played senior baseball, hockey and football. He later coached hockey and was active in kids sports at Terrebonne Park (Bill Hurst Park) in NDG, Montreal. He loved tennis and down hill skiing and was active in the Burlington Tennis Club and Glen Eden Ski Hill. He relocated from Burlington, Ontario to Fredericton in 2001 and carried on playing tennis with new friends in Fredericton and skiing at Crabbe Mountain. He played tennis and downhill skied as recently as 2010. A visitation will be held Thursday, October 27, 2011 from 7 to 9 pm at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB.
