Obituary of William Wright
The passing of William “Rocky” Arthur Wright of Fredericton, NB, husband of Dorothy (Gorman) Wright, occurred on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on April 26, 1930 in Montreal, QC, he was the son of the late Arthur and Lena (Paladina) Wright. He served 21 years in the Royal Canadian Navy, retiring in 1971, after which he held several positions in the Federal and Provincial Governments as a Stationary Engineer. Rocky was an avid and very competitive duplicate bridge player, where he made many lifelong friends and acquaintances. He achieved the status of Life Master and was ACBL certified director. In addition to his wife, Dorothy of 55 years, William is survived by his two sons, Bill Wright (Pamela) and Ritchie Wright (Mary); two daughters, Robynne Wright and Holly Mollegaard (Alex) all of Fredericton, NB; his grandchildren, Dr. Lisa Wright (Nick Hawkins) and Bill Wright, Bob Manuel (Roxanne) and Christopher Manuel (Christa Scott), Jill Mollegaard (Chris Cole) and Alex S. Mollegaard; Matthew Wright and Leanne Wright; great granddaughter, Charlotte Hawkins; two brothers, Arthur Wright of San Diego, CA and Dennis Wright (Sharon) of Simcoe, ON; two sisters, Joan Elliott and Elizabeth Garside both of Hamilton, ON; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his best friend and brother-in-law, Jim Gorman. The family will receive visitors at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. As per William’s request there will be no funeral service. Cremation will take place and his ashes will be scattered at sea at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
