Obituary of LeRoy Brennan
The passing of LeRoy “Roy” James Brennan of Sussex, NB, formerly of Blissfield, NB, husband of the late Nina (Henderson) Brennan, occurred on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on April 13, 1929 in Blissfield, NB, Roy was a son of the late Leo and Gladys (Vickers) Brennan. He was a scaler for J.D. Irving for many years but also spent time as a woodsman, fishing guide and as a warden for the Department of Natural Resources. Roy was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Roy is survived by one daughter, Roxanne Harding (Glen) of Doaktown, NB; two sons, Leo Brennan (Cathy) of Battleford, SK and Tim Brennan (Diane) of Blue Ridge, AB; seven grandchildren, Julie, Jimmy and Justin Brennan, Danielle and Zachary Harding, Stephanie Walsh and Amy Akerley; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Tom Brennan (Lillian) of Blackville, NB and Ed Brennan (Dianne) of Blissfield, NB; seven sisters-in-law, Mary Brennan, Patsy Sutherland, Marjorie Riley, Mona Fraser, Eloise Murphy, Vera Henderson and Anne Kierstead; three brothers-in-law, Arnold Hare, Delbert Murphy and Marvin Riley; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife and parents, Roy was predeceased by four sisters, Dorothy Brennan, Janet Colford, Mary Driscoll and Vida Brennan; and five brothers, Daniel, Joseph, Murray, George Brennan and Peter Sutherland.
Visitation will take place at Miramichi Valley Funeral Home, New Bandon on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Members of the Knights of Columbus will assemble on Tuesday at 6:30 pm for a prayer service. A Funeral Mass will take place from Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church, Doaktown, NB on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 11 am with Father Joseph Okoko as celebrant. Pallbearers are Joey Brennan, martin Brennan, Gene Colford, Jason Brennan, Tommy Brennan and Chris Sutherland. Honourary Pallbearers are Doug Campbell, Glen Parker, Jimmy Harris, Vincent Colford, Carl Harding and Harold Curley. Interment will be in Holy Name of Mary Catholic Cemetery.
