Lila was born and raised in Porter Cove and Ludlow, NB and started teaching in Bettsburg and Maple Ridge, NB. She married Clem in 1952 and as a young army wife joined him in Victoria, BC where Carol and Donna were born. They were posted to CFB Petawawa, ON in 1953 where Bill and Patty were born where they remained until Clem’s final posting to CFB Gagetown in 1966. They retired to Ludlow on the beautiful Miramichi River where they lovingly restored their 100 year old house. She hand made beautiful quilts and gave most of them away as gifts. She loved to play bingo with her daughter, Carol, her bingo buddy. She spent countless hours playing cards and especially loved beating her grandchildren at Crazy 8’s and Contract. She had a wonderful sense of humour and always welcomed guests into her home.
We the family, would like to thank Dr. Tanya Wood and her staff at the Boiestown Health Centre for the tremendous care given to Lila over the years, her homemaker, Nora Stewart for loving her, the staff of 4E at the DECRH and to Rev. Gray for speaking to Lila wonderful words from the bible on her last day to help her pass from this life to her next. She was talking the other day about all the people waiting for her and she said “Look out heaven, here I come”. Heaven is a much more fun place now that she is there.
Visitation will take place at Miramichi Valley Funeral Home, New Bandon on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
