Obituary of Carl Johnston

The passing of Carl Osborne Johnston, husband of Margaret (Dines) Johnston, of Fredericton, NB, occurred on Monday, April 23, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on February 20, 1932 in Grand Manan, NB, he was a son of the late Carl and Mabel (Wilson) Johnston. Besides his wife, Carl is survived by his daughters, Velvet (Brent) Howe and Joyce (Larry) Elgee all of Fredericton, NB; sons, Duane (Kathy) of Calgary, AB, Kenneth and Faron both of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Anthony, April, Kyle, Joel, Becky, Stefanie, Christie, Evan, Erica, Breanne and Candace; great grandchild, Cash. Ayden and Brooklyn; sisters, Lona Johnston of Fredericton, NB, Sabra (Richard) Ward of Fredericton, NB, Anna Ingalls of Grand Manan, NB and Theresa McLeich of BC; brothers, Claude (Irene) and Hazen (Almina) all of Fredericton, NB; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Harry. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 6 pm with Mr. George Allaby officiating. Pallbearers are Boyd Sangster, Bob Lawrence, Glen Grillo, Gary Robinson, Cedric Johnston and Roy Hillier. Interment will take place in Douglas Rural Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer Society, Chalmers Foundaton-4 East Transitional Care or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
