Obituary of Merle Sawler

The passing of Merle Clifton Sawler of Fredericton, NB, husband of Mary Lou Sawler, occurred on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on January 6, 1939 in Billtown, NS, he was the son of the late Clifton and Leona (Sherman) Sawler. He was a 30 year member of the RCMP. Merle was a member of the Nashwaaksis Baptist Church and also a member of the choir. His passion was woodworking; he also enjoyed camping and was with the Commissionaire corps for more than 10 years. In addition to his wife of 48 years, Merle is survived by his daughter, Alyson (Mark) Pegoraro of Perth, AUS; sons, Darren (Patricia) Sawler of Mount Uniacke, NS, Trevor (Myria) Sawler of Douglas, NB, Blair (Michelle) Sawler of New Maryland, NB and Scott (Paule) Sawler of Ottawa, ON; twelve grandchildren; sister, Patricia Bursey of Ottawa, ON; brothers, Reginald (Roberta) Sawler of Lakeville, NS and Lawson (Pauline) Sawler of Northville, NS; brother-in-law, Boyd Illsley of Ontario; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Gloria Illsley. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Friday, March 23, 2012 from 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will take place at Nashwaaksis Baptist Church on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 11 am with Rev. Paul Ross officiating. Interment will take place in Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeville, NS at a later date.
