Obituary of Weldon Ashfield

The passing of Weldon York Ashfield, formerly of Royal Road, NB, husband of Elizabeth “Betty” (Loney) Ashfield, occurred on Friday, March 2, 2012 at the York Care Centre. Born on April 20, 1934 in Royal Road, NB, he was the son of the late Alton and Violet (Jones) Ashfield. Weldon worked as a mechanic at Wood Motors in Fredericton until 1972 then worked as a shop foreman at Fairview Chrysler until his retirement in 1996. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing and snowshoeing. In addition to his wife, Weldon is survived by his daughter, Faye Carlson (Robert) of Innisfail, AB; brother, Alison Ashfield (Willa) of St. Thomas, Ontario. Besides his parents, Weldon was predeceased by an infant brother, Norman Ashfield. There will be no visitation by request. A Celebration of life will take place at York Care Centre (Friendship Centre) 100 Sunset Drive, Fredericton, NB on Thursday, March 8, 2012 from 2-4 pm.
