Obituary of Stirling Thomson

The passing Stirling “Doc” Thomson of Fredericton, NB, husband of Carol A. (Chisholm) David occurred on Monday, February 6, 2012 at the Moncton General Hospital. Born on November 22, 1934 in Saint John, NB, he was the son of the late Leonard and Dora (Johnson) Thomson. Doc was an exceptional family man and mentor to many. He had a soft spot for animals, especially for dogs. Doc was an accomplished bowler and is on the City of Fredericton and Oromocto Sports Walls of Fame; in addition to being a World Traveler and “Dancer Extraordinaire”, he had a passion for playing cards with his buddies at the City Club. He was very proud of his Scottish Heritage and in his youth he played base drum in a Scottish pipe band. In addition to his wife, Doc will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Peter Thomson of Montreal, QC and Michael David (Kim) of Cobden, ON; daughters, Shonna David of Saint John, NB, Lynn Akmens (Eriks) and Lisa David all of Fredericton, NB. He was a special grampie to Brett, Kathryn, Brittany, Kyle, Laila, Carly and Edward. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins, and his faithful canine companion, Skye. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Thursday, February 9, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, February 10, 2012 at 2 pm with Rev. Paul Thompson and Father Monte Peters officiating. Reception will follow in the Fireside Room. Interment will take place in Maces Bay, NB at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Fredericton SPCA or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
