Obituary of Phyllis Norrad

The passing of Madge Norrad of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Murray Norrad occurred on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on April 13, 1931 in Lower Millstream, NB, she was the daughter of the late William and Stella Holder. She was a teacher in various communities, then a bookkeeper at the Pic’n’Puff Shoppe. Madge was a member of the Elm City Echoes. She also enjoyed bowling at the Bowl-A-Drome and was an avid bird lover. Madge most of all enjoyed playing the piano into the wee hours of the morning. Madge is survived by her daughter, Kristina “Red” Norrad (Gene) of Basswood Ridge, NB; son, Danny Norrad (Rowena) of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Amanda (Fred) Hill, Richard and Darin Amos; great grandchildren, Kelsey, Aiden, Oryan, Jordan, Braden and Nolan; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Madge was predeceased by her brothers, George “Judd”, Herbie, Lawrence, Les, Gordon and Ansel; sisters, Mabel, Effie and Elsie. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Friday, December 30, 2011 from 6-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 2 pm with Rev. Franklin Curtis officiating. Interment will take in Sunny Bank Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick or the Fredericton SPCA.
