Obituary of Stephen Gullison
The passing of Stephen Lynwood Gullison of Stanley, NB, husband of Rhoda (Hanson) Gullison, occurred on Monday, January 16, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on July 7, 1929 in Giants Glen, NB, he was the son of the late Stephen and Bessie (Fullarton) Gullison. He was a member of the Cross Creek Baptist Church. Stephen was self employed, operating many logging camps in New Brunswick, he was a skilled bulldozer operator, working for many companies and people. His pride and joy was his violin, which he played daily and entertained many people and attended music events across New Brunswick; he will be remembered for the huge smile he would have on his face as he entertained everyone. He also loved horses, which he owned for many years, and was well known at any of the Horse Pulls that were held.
In addition to his wife, Stephen is survived by his children, Ola Wright (Richard), Judy MacKinnon, Beverly Gullison (Oras) and Everett Gullison; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sisters, Jean Gorman (Clifford) and Lavona Gilmore (Gerald); step children, Judy Brewer (Glen), John Burtt (Linda), Jerry Burtt (Diane), Jamie Burtt (Joane); several step grandchildren and great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his two infant sons, David and Mark; an only brother, Merle Gullison; sisters, Olive Hastings and Norma Merrill.
Visitation will take place in Cross Creek Baptist Church – Son Shine Room on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place from the church on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 2 pm with Rev. Gordon Mowry officiating. Interment will take place in Cross Creek Baptist Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Cross Creek Baptist Church; Cross Creek Baptist Cemetery Fund, New Brunswick Kidney Foundation or the charity of the donor’s choice.
