Obituary of Eugene Corey

The passing of Eugene Hubert Corey of Fredericton, NB, husband of the late Betty Muriel Corey occurred on Sunday, December 05, 2010 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on July 11, 1928 in Bear Island, NB, he was the son of the late Donald and Hazel (Sharpe) Corey. Eugene enjoyed the outdoors, baseball, hockey, picking berries, gardening, singing, camping, making maple syrup and his grandchildren were a big part of his life. Eugene is survived by his children, Avon (Mavis) Corey of Keswick Ridge, NB, Nancy Veno of Fredericton, NB and Randy (Edwina) Corey of Fredericton, NB; nine grandchildren, Stacey, Amy, Alex, Melanie, Corey, Jesse, Adam, Elisha and Ryan; 14 great grandchildren, Luke, Grace, Elias, Ella, Keira, Annalise, Brandon, Michaela, Amber, Austin, Sierra, Tristan, Lindsay and Owen; five brothers, Vernon (Stella) of Temperance Vail, NB, Edward (Verna) of Fredericton, NB, Alex (Lucy) of Port Hope, ON, Leo (Gail) and Frank of Bear Island, NB; four sisters, Florence Cleghorn of Tweedside, NB, Violet (Wendell) Keetch, Lee Agius, Christina (Ray) Lemoine all of Fredericton, NB and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Eugene was predeceased by two brothers, Lloyd and George Corey; sister, Helen O’Neill ; infant sister, Lily Maude Corey and one son-in-law, Gerald Veno. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Tuesday, December 07, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at Douglas Baptist Church on Wednesday, December 08, 2010 at 11 am with Pastor Peter Moore officiating. Reception will follow at the church. Interment will take place in Bear Island Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Diabetes Association or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
