Born on December 4, 1925 in English Settlement, NB, she was the daughter of the late Kirby and Gladys (Keenan) Nowlan. She worked at Chippin’s and loved every minute of it; and for many years looked after children in her home. She was a member of Marysville United Church, the UCW and T.O.P.S. Bertie will be remembered for many things, including her immaculate housekeeping skills, exceptional ability in the kitchen whether she was making bread, donuts or her special jams, jellies and preserves; but most of all the way she lovingly gave her time to family and friends. It is due to her husband’s dedication, that she was able to live in her own home her whole life, except the last week. In addition to her devoted and loving husband of 65 years, Bertie is survived by her loving daughter, Janet Bourque and her husband, Ron (the treasured son in law and son she never had) of Marysville, NB; grandkitten, Mittens; sisters, Betty Rogers and Berndetta Stafford; brothers, Ronnie and Frank Nowlan; sister in law, Elberta Cooper; aunt, Alice Wilkins; many special cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Pat, Everett, Johnny, Manny and Willie. At Mom’s request, there will be no visitation or service because of the unfortunate timing of her passing; Mom would have preferred others cooking for Christmas and enjoying each others company. Our wishes are that you remember Mom in life and not in death for who she was. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Fredericton SPCA or the charity of the donor’s choice. York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB are entrusted with the arrangements. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
