Obituary of Charles Kelly
The family wishes to announce the unexpected passing of Charles William Kelly of Fredericton, NB, husband of Winifred (Currie) Kelly which occurred at home on Tuesday, December 28, 2010. Born on April 12, 1922 in Millville, NB, he was the son of the late Walter and Nellie (McGuigan) Kelly. He taught in a number of schools including Burtts Corner and Cambridge Narrows, he retired in 1982 from Fredericton High School. Charlie enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, walking and was a competitive card player. Charlie could be found from early spring to late fall in his favorite place “his garden”. He also will be remembered as a loving grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Charlie was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Brent Kelly (Sharon) of Douglas, NB; four daughters, Elsbeth Kelly (Don Hitchman) of Nasonworth, NB, Nellie Williams (George) of Vancouver, BC, Lorraine Kelly of Douglas, NB and Natalie Dykstra (Wietze) of Knowlesville, NB; five granddaughters, Andrea Green (Jonathan) of Douglas, NB, Carolyn McAffee (Tony) of Vancouver, BC, Allison, Holly and Kimberly Dykstra of Knowlesville, NB; four great grandsons, Anthony and Mitchell McAffee of Vancouver, BC, Noah and David Green of Douglas, NB; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his four sisters, Doris MacFarlane, Myrtle Bradbury, Joyce Ferguson and Noreen Tompkins and two brothers, John and Ronald Kelly.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Thursday, December 30, 2010 from 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial on Friday, December 31, 2010 at 2 pm with Pastor Peter Moore officiating. Interment will take place in Dayton Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Douglas Baptist Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
