Obituary of Vaughn Ross

Well known local businessman, Vaughn Alton Ross of Boiestown, NB, husband of Jackie (McCloskey) Ross occurred on Monday, September 21, 2009 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on October 23, 1933 in Holtville, NB, he was a son of the late Irvine and Nellie (Case) Ross. He was a member of the Boiestown United Church and the men’s choir. Vaughn was the owner of V.A. Ross Trucking Ltd, V and P Construction and President of I.G. Ross Company. Early in his life Vaughn spent many years as a lumberman. He was a member of the Masons, Shriners, Southwest Miramichi Liberal Association, Executive Member of the Federal Riding of Miramichi, Board Member of Central NB Woodsman Museum; he was also a member of CADA and Boiestown Community Mobilization Group; Life Member of Miramichi Lions Club, Miramichi Salmon Association, member St. John Ambulance; Honourary Member of the Canadian Legion Normandy Branch. Vaughn was a recipient of the Miramichi Achievers Award from the Miramichi Regional Development Corporation (MRDC). In addition to his wife, Vaughn is survived by his daughters, Barbara McKay and Anne Marie (Beverley) Storey of Boiestown, NB; sons, Peter (Cathy) Ross of Ludlow, NB and Joel (Alissa Farrell) Ross of Fredericton, NB; eight grandchildren, Allison, Courtney, Joni, Kristen, Jamie, Barry, Brandon and Quinn; five great grandchildren, Kenzie, Isabella, Bryden, Brock and Lincoln; sister, Marie (Robert) Young of Fredericton, NB; brothers, Merle (Zona), Irvine (Shirley) and Kenneth all of Boiestown, NB, Wendal of Nashwaak, NB and Floyd (Carol) of New Maryland, NB and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Vaughn was predeceased by daughter, Heather Ross; sister, Brenda and brothers, Darold, Gordon, Ellis, Glen and Cassius. Visitation will take place at Miramichi Valley Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 from 7-9 pm and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at Miramichi Valley Funeral Home on Friday, September 25, 2009 at 2 pm with Rev. Dr. Beverly Daley officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be grandchildren; Honourary Pallbearers are Manley Price, Hubert Price, Robert (Bob) Kenny, Allan Parlee, Colin McCloskey, Reg MacDonald, Bill Chartus, Vincent Swazey, Bud Bird, George Fairley, JoAnne Linton, Frances Motchett and Cathy Donald. Interment will take place in Boiestown United Church Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Central NB Woodsman Museum, Boiestown United Church Cemetery or the charity of the donor’s choice.
