Obituary of Lorena Calhoun

The passing of Lorena Alexa (MacDonald) Calhoun of Bloomfield, NB, wife of the late Joseph Calhoun occurred on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on March 1, 1919 in Parker’s Ridge, NB, she was the daughter of the late Kenny and Evelyn (Boies) MacDonald. Lorena is survived by her sons, Lloyd Calhoun of Boiestown, NB, Edgar Calhoun (Anita) of Sault Ste Marie, ON and Neal Calhoun (Sheila) of Whitby, ON; daughters, Audrey Hicks of Charter’s Settlement, NB, Deanna Cavanaugh (Eugene) of Fredericton, NB, Carla Porter (Kevin O’Donnell) of Porter Cove, NB, Joan Porter (Perry) of Doaktown, NB and Cynthia Hardy of Winnipeg, MB; 19 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; brother in law, Manley Calhoun of Fredericton, NB and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Lorena was predeceased by her daughter, Phyllis Calhoun; great grandchildren, Colter Kevin Porter, Cadence Virginia Black; sisters, Merle Calhoun, Gwen Hunter and Evelyn Doak; brother, Boies MacDonald and son in law, Gerald Hicks. Visitation will take place at Ridgeway Baptist Church on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 from 4-7 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at the church on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 2 pm with Pastor Rick Bruce officiating. Interment will take place in Parker’s Ridge Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Ridgeway Baptist Church or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
