Obituary of Reta Somerville
Reta Blanche Somerville, of Orchard View Nursing Home in Gagetown, NB, wife of the late Garnet Somerville, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, October 17, 2010, at the age of 98. Born July 26, 1912 in Upper Blackville, she was the eldest child of Nathaniel and Edith (Arbeau) Campbell. Reta married Lewis McPherson at an early age, worked in the Cotton Mill and lived in Marysville, NB. When Lewis passed away she worked in Fredericton for a few years, met and married Garnet Somerville, and lived in Doaktown for 25 years. Reta was very friendly, loved people and animals, especially her cat Toney. She will be sadly missed by her sister, Janette Waye; sister in-law, Irene Campbell; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Reta was predeceased by her first husband, Lewis McPherson; daughter, Josephine Allison; grandchildren, Gail and Lewis Allison; brother, Benjamin (Ben); sister in-law, Helen; brother, Frank and brother in-law, Harry Waye.
A Memorial Service will be held at Miramichi Valley Funeral Home, 7681 Route 8, New Bandon, NB on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 3:30 pm with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Interment will take place in Doaktown Baptist Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances made to Orchard View Nursing Home or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
