Obituary of Baden ODonnell
The passing of Baden Leslie O’Donnell of Boiestown, NB, husband of Mary (Bootland) O’Donnell, occurred on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at the Central NB Nursing Home. Born on March 11, 1928 in Carrolls Crossing, NB, he was the son of the late Baden O’Donnell Sr. and Irene (Carroll) O’Donnell. He was a member of St. John’s Anglican Church, Carrolls Crossing, NB. Baden enjoyed the woods and his camp. In his younger years he worked for Russell and Swim and Boiestown Lumber. He joined the Air Force in 1950 and served until 1961. He became the first Administrator of Central NB Nursing Home in 1977, retiring in 1993. He loved his job and staff. Baden completed his GED’s and went to Ottawa University for two weeks on behalf of the Nursing Home. Baden wrote the first by-laws for the Nursing Home. He was a member of the Provincial NB Nursing Homes. He wrote two books and painted many pictures. Baden’s first love was his family; he will be remembered as a loving, compassionate son, husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his wife of 57 years, Mary, Baden is survived by his two daughters, Moyra (Jen) of Fredericton, NB and Becky of Carroll’s Crossing, NB; two sons, Arthur (Lorrie) and Robert of Doaktown, NB; 16 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; siblings, four sisters and two brothers; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Moyra Francis who went to be with her Lord as a little child.
Visitation will take place at Miramichi Valley Funeral Home, New Bandon on Friday, March 4, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at Miramichi Valley Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 2 pm with Father Andrew Fraser officiating. Interment will take place in St. John’s Anglican Church Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Parkinson Society or the charity of the donor’s choice and would be appreciated by the family.
