Obituary of Albertus Peters
The passing of Albertus “Al” Johannes Peters of Fredericton, NB, husband of Marcelle (Corbin) Peters occurred peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on Friday, December 13, 2019 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. Born on January 27, 1948 in Arnhem, Netherlands, he was the son of the late Albertus and Elizabeth (Raiynders) Peters, who immigrated to New Brunswick, Canada in 1952.
Al was a kind soul, loved by his friends and family for his genuine character and humanity. A free spirit at heart, Al had a passion for life which reflected in his love of reading, swimming and understanding himself and the world through travel. He truly loved visiting with his family and siblings, and always had time for a coffee and chat with an old friend.
In addition to his wife of 24 years, Al is survived by his daughter, Jenny Peters-Cochrane (Steve); sons, Mitchell Peters (Maria) and Daniel Peters (Kara); step daughter, Carol Storey (Chris); step-son, Brian Perreault (Annie); grandchildren, Jocelyn, Patrick, Ben, Mateo, Matthew, Michaela, Christian, Christine and Nicholas; great-grandchild, Aleaha; sisters, Johanna “Annie” Conley (Ron) and Elizabeth “Elly” McCarty (and the late Gerald); brothers, Theo Peters (Diane), Tony Peters (Claudette) and John Peters (Beverley); several nieces and nephews. Aside from his parents, Al was predeceased by his aunts, uncles and cousins in the Netherlands.
In keeping with Al’s wishes there will be no visitation or service at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held in August of 2020. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
