ORCHARD, LINDA MAE (DYKEMAN)
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Mae (Dykeman) Orchard of Waterborough, NB, formerly of Fredericton which occurred on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Fredericton Hospice House, following a battle with cancer. Born on March 3, 1950 in Saint John, NB, she was the daughter of the late Burpee and Muriel (Ripley) Dykeman. Linda was proud to work as a Registered Nurse for 37 years, and cared deeply for her patients and colleagues. Linda shared a wonderful life with her husband, children, grandchildren and close family. Her favourite place was to be with her friends and family at their cottage on Grand Lake.
Linda is survived by her husband of 47 years, Neil Orchard; her daughter, Lori Orchard (Troy Poirier) of Fredericton; son, James Orchard (Nicolle Dixon) of Shediac River; daughter in law, Karen Orchard of Fredericton; she will be missed by her grandchildren, Alyssa, Nora, Abigail, Brooke, Mitchell, Kate, Neil and Frances. Linda is also survived by her brother, Harold Dykeman (Donna) of Fredericton; sisters and brothers in law, Barb Ekstrom of Rothesay, Carl and Irene Thorne of Quispamsis, Dwight Stuart of Saint John; five half sisters; many loved nieces and nephews. Linda was predeceased by her parents, Burpee and Muriel (Ripley) Dykeman; biological mother, Marie Dewar; son, Peter Orchard; sister in law, Carol Stuart; brother in law, Randy Ekstrom; mother and father in law, Ralph and Kay Orchard.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Sunday, December 15, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Monday, December 16, 2019 at 11 am with Rev. Andrew Horne officiating with Rev. Dwight Stuart assisting. Private Interment will take place in St. Luke’s Anglican Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Fredericton Hospice, who graciously cared for Linda and her family in her final days. Personal condolence may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
