Obituary of Julie Dawn Powers
POWERS, JULIE DAWN
July 29, 1991- November 29, 2019
Powers, Julie Dawn “Beans”. The family of Julie Powers of Fredericton, New Brunswick, announce with great sadness and regret the passing of a vibrant, strong, and loving daughter, sister, aunt, and partner, in Woodstock, on November 29, 2019. Born in Fredericton July 29, 1991 she was the youngest child of John and Margaret (Bridges) Powers.
Growing up in Mazerolle Settlement, Julie loved being outdoors and visiting her grandparents, the late Peter and Mary “Hazel” Powers in Minto, Harry and Edna Bridges in Sheffield, and John and Laura Spear in Pennfield (New River Beach). Julie was a very keen and passionate student. She took to topics like debate, law, and politics. Julie also loved being active and was involved in swimming, basketball and tennis for many years. After school, Julie took after her mother and started working with CIBC. She developed a strong grasp of the financial world and quickly became a leader amongst her peers. She moved to Toronto, looking for a change of pace, and fell in love with the busy city. Julie loved to travel, taking several trips to Vancouver, Europe, and some sunny southern destinations. She began seeing her partner Jesse Rattray in 2016, and in 2018 they made the decision to move to Woodstock. It did not take Julie long to get involved with the community. Julie touched others with her generous spirit everywhere she went, from joining the chamber of commerce, to volunteering with the multicultural association, the school breakfast program and numerous other community events.
Julie is survived by her parents, John and Margaret (Bridges) Powers; siblings, Melanie (Mo) Elhossainy, Scott (Krista) and Andrew (Kate); nieces, Mya and Mira Elhossainy; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Julie will also be greatly missed by her partner, Jesse Rattray and his family. Her passing will be deeply felt by her many friends and co-workers, but they will remember her for being social, loving, caring, and outgoing.
