She was predeceased by her husband, Chester Jagoe; parents, Joe McKinney and Elsie Barker; her brothers, Terry and Carl McKinney. She was a free spirit with a big heart who enjoyed spending time with family and friends, singing, and playing guitar. She was easy to get to know and always willing to lend a helping hand. She cherished every friendship she made. Music was her first love but she also had a passion for reading and learning. She demonstrated this passion by attending St. Thomas University, and graduated in 1990 with a degree in Philosophy. She worked hard as a waitress and bartender at various locations across Canada for most of her working career, and was a talented artist and seamstress. A celebration of her life will be held at the Keswick Valley Recreation Centre located at 1262 Route 104 in Burtts Corner on Saturday, September 21, 2019 from 1-3 pm with internment later at Oak Mountain Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sheila’s honour to the Fredericton SPCA, The Salvation Army, Autism Connections Fredericton or a charity of the donor’s choice, through York Funeral Home, or directly to the charity. We can’t thank her home support workers and friends enough, Lois Cox, Maria Carberry, and Alice-Faye Silvea, for making her life and her family's lives that much easier. We would also like to thank her many close friends who always went above and beyond whenever she needed them, including her friends from Nashwaak Manor. A very special thank you to Dr. Achla Pond, and the Doctors and Nurses from the ICU at the DECRH for their special care and kindness towards Sheila and her family.
