Life Legacy
The passing of George Aubrey Booker of Kingsley, NB occurred on Tuesday July 23, 2019 at Saint John Regional Hospital. George was born on August 14, 1957, to his parents; Jim and Shirley (Dodds) Booker. George was their eldest son.
George attended school at Nashwaaksis Memorial and then George Street.
He began his career at Charmac running a backhoe and loader for Charlie MacFarland, the owner of Charmac. He later moved from Chamac to Diamond Construction where he learned to run a number of different types of machinery. In 1988, George left Diamond Construction to start a new opportunity with Caldwell and Ross. The first road job that George worked on with Caldwell and Ross was the overpass on Kimble Drive in Fredericton, NB. Over the course of his 31-year career with Caldwell and Ross, George travelled extensively throughout New Brunswick and various locations in Nova Scotia.
Work and family were George’s life. When he wasn’t working, he could be found at one of this brothers or sisters homes helping with a project or simply having a visit and entertaining the children.
George especially loved his nieces and nephews, and played a key role in all of their lives, from assisted them with travel to and from sport activities, to teaching some of them how to drive, and keeping their secrets like an uncle should.
George enjoyed the outdoors and spending time at the camp with the boys (young and old). In 2018, he finally got his moose tag, after putting in for it since he was 18. He was successful and bagged himself a nice bull.
He will remain in our hearts forever and all will cherish his memories.
George is survived by his sisters, Elizabeth Booker-Price (Rick) and Kris Donovan (Keith); brothers, Timothy Booker (Susan), Brian Booker, John Booker (Jackie), Robert Booker (Hoda), and Phillip Booker; seven nieces, Amy Whalen (Joey), Lacey Collier (Paul), Emma Booker, (Katrina), Juliana Booker, Melissa Hickey (Zach), Lee Anne Donovan (Ryan), and Amanda Coggins; six nephews, Jeremy Booker (Shey), James and Jacob Booker, Matthew Donovan, Scott and Andrew Booker (Jessie); nine great nieces & nephews.
George was predeceased by his parents, his sisters; Bonnie and Cynthia Booker and a sister in law Cathy Booker.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Sunday, July 28, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon Macleod Memorial Chapel on Monday July 29, 2019 at 2 pm with Rev. Joanne Barr officiating. Interment will take place in Seymour Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Timothy Booker, Brian Booker, John Booker, Robert Booker, Phillip Booker and Steven Fairley.
