Obituary of Mildred Morrison
Mildred J. Morrison, age 90, passed away Saturday at Thomas Hall, Parkland Shannex, a caring and loving community in Fredericton, NB. From her birth in Lachute, Quebec, on Aug, 11, 1928 to her passing on May 4, 2019 she nourished people around her with love, faith, generosity and service. Born to Lester and Jessie Thompson, Millie and was the second of four children – Audrey Dlugolecki (Leo), Gary Thompson (Joyce) and Stuart “Dick” Thompson (June).
An avid student, Millie was the first family member to attend university. After high school she attended McGill University earning a Bachelor of Science in 1949. After graduation, Earl and Millie were married on July 1, 1949 and soon thereafter, the two began teaching at the United Baptist Bible Training School in Moncton, NB; while in Moncton Millie obtained her B.Ed from Mount Allison. In 1963 they moved their family of five to Fredericton where they both continued to teach. At age 50, Millie returned to university where she pursued studies in Social Work (St. Thomas) and M.Ed Counselling (UNB). Millie will be remembered as a dedicated teacher, empathetic counsellor, gifted artist, as well as loving wife, mother and grandmother. We know that she is in a better place with her heavenly Father, and her husband and partner in life, Earl who had gone on before.
Millie was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Jessie; loving husband, Earl; sister, Audrey; brother, Gary and several brother and sister-in-laws.
Left to honor Millie and remember her love are her three children: Ruth Morrison (Garfield), Stuart Morrison (Patti), William Morrison (Louise); eight grandchildren: Joy Prescesky (Jay), Jennifer Collishaw (William), Peter Prescesky (Danelle), Chris Morrison (Sylvie), Jason Morrison (Jill), John Morrison (Fran), Sarah Kenny (Morgan), Rebekah Duval (Peter): great-grandchildren: Zack, Noah and Rhiannon Allison, Anna Brougham (Brent), Gordy and Landon Collishaw, Logan and Felix Prescesky, Alina Morrison, Sophia and Misha Kenny.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Nashwaaksis Baptist Church, 104 Edgewood Dr, Fredericton, with the Rev. Kevin Culberson officiating. Interment will follow at a later date. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
