Obituary of Harry Murdock

With great sadness we announce the passing of Harry Murdock at Hospice Fredericton on Sunday, April 14, 2019. He will be greatly missed by so many. Harry was the loving husband of Frances (Pittman) for 65 years. He is survived by his children – Gwen (Edgar), Corinne (Pat), Carl, Tom (Rolande) and Cheryl (Glenn), his grandchildren – Michael, Rachelle, Charlene, Luke, Donna, Tom, Karlie, Emma, Jane, and Kate as well as three great grandchildren, Mitchell, Trevor, and Marcella. Harry and Frances were original members of the St. Thomas Dance Club and also enjoyed dancing on their many cruises. They loved to travel, and made several trips to Florida, Europe, and various destinations in Canada. Harry was born in Millbank on the Miramichi on February 21, 1929 to Melvina (Lyons) and Aloysius Murdock. He attended St. Thomas High School and College. His work with Standard Brands took Harry and Frances and their family to Fredericton in 1958. He later joined the sales force of Kimberly Clark and finished his working career at Mactaquac Park. Harry was a devoted member of St. Theresa’s Church. He served on the Parish Council and was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was for many years a member of the Fredericton United Commercial Travellers and the Fredericton Golden Club. Harry was a wonderful singer and loved playing his guitar entertaining friends and family. Harry was predeceased by his beloved wife Frances, his parents, brothers, Robert (Corinne) and Carl and sister, Carolyn. We thank the staff of the Fredericton Hospice for their outstanding care and compassion as well as Dr. Gillis-Doyle, Dr. Hudson and Dr. Goodyear. A special thank you to cousin, Gina. Although there will be no visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Theresa’s Church on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 11 am. Interment will take place in St. Samuel’s Cemetery in Miramichi at a later date. Donations may be made to Hospice Fredericton or the charity of your choice.
