Obituary of David Lyons

Life Legacy The passing of David Lyons of Charters Settlement, NB, husband of Wanda (Moir) Lyons occurred on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Fredericton Hospice. David was a carpenter by trade, retiring in 2002. David excelled at many sports over the years, hockey, judo, basketball, racquetball and ping pong. He was a talented woodcarver and built amazing scale models. He enjoyed chess, history and astronomy. David loved to play cards, listen to country music, play guitar, and cheer for the Toronto Maple Leafs. In addition to his wife, David is survived by his daughters, Dana Grondin (Kim) of New Maryland, NB and Denise Lyons of Toronto,ON; sons, Derek Lyons (Tracey) of New Maryland, NB, Neal Lyons (Marie) of Kingsley Road, NB and Nicholas Lyons (Samantha) of Fredericton, NB; 19 grandchildren, three great grandchildren; sisters, Ethel McNeil and Faye Golding of Saint John, NB, Mary Ann Dube of Moncton, NB, Meggy Griffin of Saint John, NB, Judy Chiasson of Fredericton, NB and Bunny Parnell of Peterborough, ON; brothers, Jackie Lyons of Doaktown, NB, Donnie Lyons of St. Stephen, NB, Jerry Lyons of Calgary, AB and Danny Lyons of Red Deer, AB; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Robert Lyons; grandsons, Zachary and Hayden Lyons. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Thursday February 21, 2019 from 5-8 pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. John and Paul Catholic Church, New Maryland, NB on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 2 pm with Father Maria Arokiam Chinnappan as celebrant. Interment will take place in Hermitage Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Fredericton Hospice or the charity of the donor’s choice.
