So sorry to hear that Phil has left us. He was one of the greats. We spent a lot of time with him at West River jumping and he always had a smile and a story to tell. He made every weekend fun. I remember the day that an old beat up trailer was hauled in and given to Phil for him to stay in while he was there. I was like he won the lotto. He loved it. He loved life ! You will not be forgotten and we are proud to have called him our friend! RIP

I was so very sorry to hear of Phil's passing, and I send my condolences to all his family. This John Gillespie Magee, Jr poem reminds me of Phil's life and his skydiving adventures.
High Flight
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds, and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air. . . .
Up, up the long, delirious burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or ever eagle flew
And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.
