I just learned of Jim's passing and I am very sad.
I consider Jim to be a mentor as he was my boss at Communications NB. In fact, I did not consider him a boss but rather a friend.
As a young communicator, I learned a lot from him and what I have learned I have used and am still using in my career.
The most precious lesson I have learned by working with Jim was to put people first.
I regret not having kept contact except for asking news from Mel once in a while.
Thank you Jim. You have made a great difference in a lot of people's lives, personally as much as professionally.
To the family, all the best thoughts and sympathies from my wife and I.

Saddened to learn of Jim's death. I had the good fortune to work with him at The Daily Gleaner in the '70s.
His enthusiasm was infectious, his dedication inspiring and his capacity for good times limitless. Those were indeed the days, my friend, a privilege shared before the end. My deepest condolences to Nancy and family.

I was privileged to work with Jim at The Gleaner for many years and was proud to be part of the "Gleaner 11." I just learned today that Jim had passed into his eternal reward. With the weather we experienced last week I doubt I could have made either get-together...but there certainly would have been plenty of stories to share. Nancy, thank you for the opportunity you provided for me to be part of Jim's professional life. May you receive comfort in knowing the positive things Jim accomplished.

Nancy, Mel and Nick,
I loved Jim with all my heart - as I love all of you. Not many people could understand the special relationship we have. Jim was my second father. I adored being in any room with him. I listened to him. I respected him. I thought the world of him. He looked out for me, as you all did. He took me driving, and worked on my cars. He made me laugh, and always made me think. I miss him so much already. Ive never met another person that made me laugh EVERY SINGLE TIME I was with them. No one has the wit that he did. (Well, maybe Duke...).
I am grieving but Im so glad I had him and all of you in my life.
Much love,
Mel 2

I am sorry Nancy to hear this news and can only imagine how hard it must be for all of the family. Jim was a good man and great friend to my mom Jackie Webster. I remember our last happy meeting with him and Nancy at Mom's house on Shore Street. Add my warmest memories of Jim to the many thousands he has created and left behind for others in his family, profession and community. The good die young. I'll miss him.
