Obituary of David Mutch
Life Legacy
David Charles Mutch of Fredericton, NB, formerly of Woodstock, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on November 25, 2018.
Left to remember him are his wife of 56 years, Ruby Jean Hanson, daughter Tami and husband Victor Ketch, son Andrew and wife Jill Mailman, grandchildren Kristyn Ketch and husband Graham Briggs, Elizabeth, Katherine, and Alexandria Mutch and great grandchildren, Coy and Hallie Briggs, brother-in-law Garry Hanson and his wife Gayle Craig, nieces, nephews and cousins. David is now together with his son John, grandson Jonathan Ketch, father Edward Mutch, mother Grace Cook, sister Joan and husband Walter McKell.
David was a kind gentle man of great character and wisdom. Many people reached out to him for support when making life decisions. He was a nurturing father and grandfather and took "Mutch" joy in teaching his family new things and spending time together.
David enjoyed a variety of sports and he practiced a lifetime of discipline in physical fitness. He excelled in swimming, playing and refereeing basketball, softball, hockey and in later years developed his skill and love for golf. He was noted for his vocal talent and perfect pitch. His beautiful tenor voice will long be remembered and greatly missed. As a young man he was featured in numerous Woodstock High School musicals, sang in a male quartet, "Four Dukes and a Joker" on television, radio and variety shows. He earned a vocal scholarship to the Royal Conservatory of Music under the training of Bill Turney. David expressed his greatest joy when using his musical gifts for the glory of God by directing church choirs, playing bass guitar and trumpet and performing in "The Comforters" under the direction of Leonard Orser. Many hours were spent at home and in church singing harmony with his wife and daughter to their piano and organ accompaniment.
David had absolute trust in God and as a member of the Wesleyan Church he enjoyed spending his annual summer vacations at Beulah Camp. Many decisions and commitments were made by him in the tabernacle and on the cottage porch. He retired from the NB Power Commission in 1993 having served as an office supervisor in Woodstock and Fredericton. He later served as a senior administrative analyst in the Fredericton head office. Following his retirement, he became the owner/operator of an H&R Block office in Woodstock.
His entire family would like to express our sincere gratitude to York Care Centre, and the staff of Tower 2, who provided him with comfort, gentleness and respect. We appreciate the many acts of kindness given by family, friends and neighbours during David's lengthy illness.
