Obituary of Norman Tabor
It is with great sadness that the family of Norman Stevens Tabor, age 84, announce his peaceful passing on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born in Ward’s Creek, NB on April 17, 1934, he was the son of the late George and Elsie (Stevens) Tabor. Norman was a proud veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force and served for 30 years, until his retirement in 1984. Following his military career, Norman spent time as a Commissionaire. He was a handyman who enjoyed building and fixing things or relaxing at the cottage at Maquapit Lake. His most special times were when his children and grandchildren were home to visit.
Norman leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years, Helen (Hunter), sons Brian (Rachael) Tabor of Dartmouth, NS, Kevin (Francoise) Tabor of Rockland, ON and daughter Brenda (Doug) Trentowsky of Saint John, NB. He was very proud of his family and his six grandchildren, Donald and Stuart Tabor, Justin and Michelle Tabor, Paige and Ryan Trentowsky. Norman also leaves behind his sister Georgina Perkins, sisters-in-law June Tabor, Vivienne Tabor, Kaye Brown and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Norman was predeceased by his sister Violet Cunningham and brothers Reginald, Ronald and Lorne Tabor.
The Family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Doug Varty, the Nurses and Staff of the Fredericton Hemodialysis Unit and the Nurses and Staff of the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital 4SW for their excellent care.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Friday, October 12, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8pm. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 are asked to assemble for a Private Tribute Service with family at 5:45 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 1 pm with Rev. Kevin Culberson officiating. A reception will follow at York Funeral Home. Interment will take place at the Scotchtown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully appreciated to the Chalmers Foundation - Dialysis Unit or the New Brunswick Kidney Foundation.
