Obituary of Lois Hill

It is with sadness for a life ended and gratitude for a life well lived, that the family of Lois Lorine (nee Graham) Hill announces her passing on Monday, October 1, 2018 at home, surrounded by her children and their spouses. A New Year’s baby, Lois was born January 1, 1933 in Keswick, NB; the first child of the late Basil (1998) and Pearl Jones (1981) Graham. Besides her parents, Lois was predeceased by her husband, Donald (2008); son, Terry (2016), sisters, Joan (in infancy) and Shirley (1995). Lois is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Jim) Hudson, Cathy (Fred) Steeves, Wendy (Gordon) Thornton and Tami (Dave Dunbar); sons, Kim (Darrell Brewer) and Graham (Lori). Lois leaves behind her 17 grandchildren - Mike (Holly) Hudson, Mark (Maureen) Hudson, Karen Hudson (Kyle McLeod), Tracey Hill (Mark Moulton), Terry-Ann (Jim) Melanson, Jason Hill (Lesha Andrews), Raena Steeves (Brian Jones), Peter (Tracy) Steeves, Vicki (Dean) Orser, Chris Thornton (Ashlea Joyce), Justin (Melissa) Hill, Julie (Andy) Kilfillen, Jared Hill (Alysia Fullarton) , Trent (Katie) Hill, Courtney Hill (Matt McNally), Chelsey Merrithew (Travis Boies) and Marlae-Rae (Bruce) Finley. Affectionately known as “Nan”, “Nanny Hill” or “Old Nan”, Lois is also survived by her 32 great-grandchildren - Emma, Owen, Max, Zachary, Devon, Tanner, Morgan, Cameron, Kayla, Forest, River, Danielle, Andrew, Ally, Ethan, Grace, Hudson, Fallon, Taylor, Alexander, Keaton, Cooper, Jakob, Jordyn, Olivia, Emma, Sophie, Jaxson, Carter, Gavin, Arizona and Eva. Lois was looking forward to the birth of her 33rd great-grandchild; (Marlea and Bruce’s first child) expected in January. Four great-great-grandchildren also survive Lois - Trinity, Liam, Ty and TJ. Lois is also survived by her remaining siblings - Phyllis “Sissy” (Gordon) Brown of London, ON and Eric (Sheila) Graham of Scotch Lake, NB The family wishes to convey a very special thank you to Extra-Mural staff - Barb, Heidi, Patrice, Sandra, Nicole, Shelley and most especially Melisa. We so appreciate the kind, compassionate care provided to our mom. Special thanks also to the doctors of Palliative Care; Dr. Goodyear who so comfortingly explained the palliative care program to our mom; and to Dr. McDonald and Dr. Jen Gillis-Doyle for their home visits. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home on Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A service to honour Lois’ memory will be held at York Funeral Home, Fredericton on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 2 pm with Rev Paul Thompson officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be grandsons, Mark Hudson, Peter Steeves, Chris Thornton, Trent Hill, Jason Hill, Justin Hill and Jared Hill. Interment will take place in the Dayton Cemetery, Pearl St, Fredericton immediately following the service.
