Obituary of Margaret MacQuarrie-McLeod
Life Legacy
Margaret Ann MacQuarrie-McLeod, age 57, passed away on September 12, 2018 in Fredericton, NB. She was the oldest of three children of Gordon and Patricia (Ryder) McLeod. Born in Fredericton, she was raised in St. Stephen, but returned to Fredericton at the age of twenty and lived there the rest of her life. She leaves behind her husband Lachlan, daughter Melanie, son Doug, sister Wendy (Barry) McLeod MacKnight, and brother Patrick (Nancy). She also leaves nephews Forrest and Duncan, and nieces Sydney and Daisy and many, many friends. Trained as a teacher, Margaret worked for the provincial government most of her life until retirement, when she returned to her favorite avocation, writing, with her poetry and short stories appearing in such literary magazines as The Dalhousie Review, The Antigonish Review, and Nōd, as well as being collected in such anthologies as Best Canadian Poetry in English 2018 and Making Monsters. Visitation at noon on Sunday, September 16 at York Funeral Home in Fredericton, followed by a memorial ceremony at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of New Brunswick, or Canadian National Institute for the Blind, would be appreciated.
