Obituary of W. Peter Dewar
It is with profound sadness that we, the family of Peter Dewar, of Fredericton, NB, announce his passing on August 13, 2018 at Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on January 26, 1938 in St. Stephen, NB, he was a son of the late Brooke and Ethel (Spinney) Dewar.
Peter will be sadly missed by his wife, Corinne and his furry friend Mandy; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Leo and Judy. Peter also leaves behind his daughter, Kimberley Burnett; granddaughter, Addison Ann; his sister, Joyce Dickey (Bill); sister-in-law, Jeannette Audet (Aubin) and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Albert Dewar.
Peter started his career in the Air Force and then worked as an operator with NB Power for over 35 years. He loved to read and loved the outdoors. After his retirement in 1998, he enjoyed walking the Gibson Trail with his dogs and meeting up with friends from the trail. He enjoyed planting and trimming trees at the cottage, until someone would run over the seedlings with a lawn mower; he didn’t give up just replanted.
We would like to express our gratitude to all the doctors and staff that looked after Peter from both the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital as well as the Saint John Regional Hospital. Special thanks to Rev. Leander L. Mills who made Peter much more comfortable during his last days.
Goodbye Dad, Mandy will miss you.
As per Peter’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. A private Graveside Service was held on Monday, September 17, 2018 at St. Anthony's Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, the Kidney Foundation or to the SPCA.
