Obituary of Stuart Smythe
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Stuart Merritt Smythe announce his passing on August 9, 2018, at Hospice House Fredericton. Born October 11, 1946, he passed away peacefully as he was surrounded by family. He was the son of the late Russell and Margaret (Johnson) Smythe.
Stuart is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Rhona Margaret (O’Hara) Smythe; sons, Jeff (Carla), Greg (Tanya), Danny (Angela); ten grandchildren, Matthew, Megan, Ethan, Simon, Savana, Kylie, Oliver, Aven, Sophia and Ella; brother, Doug (Wendy); and special friend, Lynn (Marc).
Stu enjoyed the outdoors and was dedicated to his work as a Property Appraiser for the Department of Agriculture. He loved spending time at his camp in Beechwood making maple sugar, playing guitar, cutting his own firewood and walking with his grandchildren through the woods.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at the DECRH and Hospice House for their loving care and kindness.
Arrangements are under the care of York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB. Visitation will be held at Kingswood Lodge, Kingswood Park, Hanwell, NB, on Tuesday, August14, 2018 from 3-7 pm. A Memorial Service will be held at All Saints Anglican Church, 169 Canada Street, Fredericton, NB on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 2 pm. A reception will follow. Donations in Stuart’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Hospice House Fredericton. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
