Obituary of Mary Gullison
The passing of Mary “Gail” Gullison of Stanley, NB wife of Bernard Gullison occurred on Monday, July 9, 2018 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on May 21, 1948 in Fredericton, NB, she was the daughter of Greta (Boone) Spilman and the late Edward “Ted” Spilman. She was a Homemaker and a volunteer at Nashwaak Villa. Gail was a member of St. James Anglican Church and in her youth was affiliated with Sterling United Church. She has received several awards which includes the Stanley High School Essay Award, Nashwaak Villa Resident Leadership Award for initiating the Nashwaak Villa Bus Program. She also received the ACW Stanley Service Award. Gail enjoyed reading and talking to her many family and friends on the phone.
In addition to her husband and mother, Gail is survived by her siblings, Anna Rice (Winston), Karen Hayes (Wayne), Edward Spilman (Sandra), Elaine Price (Kevin) and Dawn Spilman (Steven Fairley); sisters in law, Elsie Sands (William “Billy”) and Valerie Golding (Reggie); honourary sisters, Tabatha Price, Sandra Lenentine and Mary Ellen Benoit; many nieces and nephews. Besides her father, she was predeceased by her parents in law, Danny and Hilda (Sands) Gullison; sisters in law, Dorothy Dorcas and Bertha Moore; brothers in law, Walter, Johnny and Ralph Gullison.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, July 12, 2018 from 12- 2 pm, followed by the Funeral Service at 2 pm with Rev. Canon Bonita LeBlanc officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be Gerald Logan, Billy Sands, Jimmy Sands, Kris Rice, Christopher Spilman and Michael Hayes; Honourary Pallbearer will be her cousins, Barbara Davies, Jacki Stickles, Ardith Armstrong, Lorna Ball, Jacalyn Boone, Joanne Dorcas, Debbie Bolton, Dale Biggs and friends, Gloria Logan and Lloyd Branscomb. A reception will follow the service in the Fireside Room. Interment will take place in St James Anglican Cemetery, Tay Creek, NB. The family wish to express their gratitude to the Nashwaak Villa for their loving, compassionate care and friendship, over the past four years; and to Dr. Hayter, Dr. K. Stymiest, Dr. K. Cameron, Dr. Cruz; Chalmers Hospital Nurses and Staff of 4SW, 4NE, ICU and all her care givers for their kindness and professional care.
