Obituary of Weldon Peterson
The passing of Weldon “Pete” J. Peterson of Fredericton, NB, occurred on February 27, 2018 at home. Born on January 31, 1945 in Upper Blackville, NB, he was the son of the late Weldon and Gladys (Arbeau) Peterson. He loved being on the road! A native of Upper Blackville, he learned to drive during his four years in the Canadian Army. In November of 2003, he came to work as a long haul driver for Atlantic Pacific Transport. He transported heavy equipment to locations across North America from California, Texas, the Mexican border to all points of the south and east through New England and most of the Atlantic Provinces. Weldon transported equipment and heavy loads west to Northern British Columbia, north of Great Slave Lake, Alberta, and east through Ontario, Quebec and Labrador. He loved the open roads of the prairies. The Fredericton/Hanwell office had a 73rd birthday dinner for him on January 31, 2018. He will be missed.
Pete is survived by his sons, Mark Peterson of Winnipeg, MB and Robert John; daughter, Shiana Andrew; grandchildren, Kaylyn, Stefan, Spencer, Shelby and Raymond; sister, Louise Smith; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Nora and Hazel; brothers, Malcolm, Arnold and Buddy.
The visitation will take place at the Fredericton City Club, 830 Hanwell Road on Saturday, March 10, 2018 from 2-4 pm. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.york.com
