Obituary of Allard McCarthy
The passing of Allard “Mike” August McCarthy of Fredericton, NB occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the age of 84, surrounded by his family. Born on May 14, 1933 he was the son of the late Michael McCarthy and Laura Godin. Mike was a native of Bartibog Bridge, NB, where he grew up, in what is now the MacDonald Farm. He attended Bartibog Bridge School, St. Thomas High School and College. Allard worked for NB Power from 1959 until his retirement in 1993. He belonged to various organizations, becoming the National President for the Purchasing Management Association of Canada. He was a long standing member of the Boy Scouts of Canada. He was instrumental in the building and establishing of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.
Mike is survived by his wife of 58 years, Antoinette LeGresley; his children, Michael (Gizèle Caissie) of Douglas, NB, Alice (Hank Overink) of Ottawa, ON, Rita (Terry Bowlen) of Fredericton, NB and Margaret (Joan Brown) of Fredericton, NB; grandsons, Justin (Gina) of Dieppe, NB and Andrew of Fredericton, NB; great grandson, Felix of Dieppe, NB; special family members, Simone Godin and Angèle LeGresley both of Fredericton, NB; several cousins.
Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to York Funeral Home. As per his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral at this time. A Graveside Service will be held in St. Anthony’s Cemetery at a later date. The family wish to extend special thanks to the staff of the DECRH Palliative Care Unit and Dr. Tom Barry and Dr. Jill Goodyear.
