Obituary of Everette Grattan

The passing of Everette Hazen Joseph Grattan of Penniac, NB, husband of Brenda Taylor-Grattan occurred on Monday, January 8, 2018 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on September 23, 1950 in Tracadie, NB and grew up in Devon, NB, he was the son of the late Everette and Lillian (Johansen) Grattan. Everette retired after 40 years as the Aquatics Director of the Kinesiology Department at UNB. He enjoyed hunting, especially with his son, Cory and his grandsons; he also enjoyed fishing, fly tying, camping at the lake with his lake family, and he was an avid Toronto Maple Leaf fan. In addition to his wife, Everette is survived by his son, Cory John Grattan (Tracey); step daughter, Vicki Coy (Dale); step son, Rick Smith (Shelley); grandchildren, Tyler Grattan, Zach Smith (Kara), Alyssa Smith, Ethan Smith and Mikhailah Smith; sister, Elaine Banks (Stephen); brothers, Rick Grattan (Rolande) and Danny Grattan (Kathy); several nieces and nephews; chosen sister and brother, Julie Lane and Peter McDonald. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his grandson, Brady Grattan; brother, Laurie Grattan; nephew, David Banks and great niece, Shana Greer. A Celebration of Life will take place at Sunset Church, 492 Clements Drive, Fredericton, NB on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 2-4 pm.
