Obituary of Laurie Mersereau

Mersereau, Laurie Edward The passing of Laurie Edward Mersereau of Fredericton, NB, husband of Doris Mersereau, occurred on Monday, October 30, 2017 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. Born on March 26, 1951 in Bath, NB, he was the son of the late Malcolm and Alice (Hallett) Mersereau. Laurie never complained and always had a smile for everyone. He worked as an Electrical Engineer at IBM for 19 years, and then worked for Bell Aliant. Laurie was a member of Smythe Street Cathedral, UNB Astronomy Club and the Tennis Club. He was a member of the Fredericton HAM Radio Club “VE9IBM”. In addition to his wife, Laurie is survived by his daughters, Jill Mersereau of Fredericton, NB and Michelle Thornhill (Eric) of Dartmouth, NS; granddaughter, Alice Thornhill and another granddaughter due in December; uncle, Lloyd Mersereau; aunt, Muriel Hallett; several nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters and brothers in law. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Friday, November 3, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at Smythe Street Cathedral on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 2 pm with Rev. Verner Drost officiating. Interment will take place in Douglas Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Greenhill Lake Camp. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
