Obituary of Ruby Hawkins

The passing of Ruby Jean Hawkins, of Fredericton, NB, occurred on October 25, 2017 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on August 26, 1953 in Jewetts Mills, NB, she was the daughter of the late Miles and Myrtle (Griffiths) Hawkins. Prior to retiring, Ruby had been employed by NB Power. She had also been employed in earlier years at the campus branch of the Bank of Montreal. Ruby was an active member of the Taymouth United Church where she enjoyed the fellowship and taking part in the services and other functions. She was passionate about reading, travelling and loved her cats. Ruby is survived by her nieces, Stacey (Richard) Murphy and Anna (Paul) Ward and her great nephews, Tanner and Cooper Murphy. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Frank Hawkins. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Sunday, October 29, 2017 from 6 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Monday, October 30, 2017 at 2 pm with Rev. Dr. Yvette Swan officiating. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
