Obituary of Vera Doucette
It is with the saddest of hearts that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, mother-in-law, Vera Doreen (Boyle) Doucette of Fredericton, NB, wife of Donald Doucette occurred on Sunday, October 8, 2017. Mom passed peacefully with her family by her side, supported by the incredible love and care of her “second family” at York Care Centre. Born on August 21, 1934 in Waasis, NB she was a daughter of the late John and Alice (Carney) Boyle. Vera worked for several years with the Provincial Government in the Department of Historical Resources Archives. She was a member of the Lady’s Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4, Fredericton. Vera loved summer and autumn days at the lake with Dad and Toby, enjoyed several short trips to Maine and New Hampshire with family and a few vacations to Florida and the Rockies. She always had more than enough time and love for her family. The more extended the family, the greater the extension of her love.
In addition to her husband of 61 years, Vera is survived by her daughters, Cindy McLean (Allan) of Fredericton, NB, Shelley Doucette (Arnold) of St. Andrew’s, NB; son, Tim Doucette (Kelly) of Durham Bridge, NB; grandchildren, Matthew McCloskey (Jessica), Lisa McCloskey (Alex), Devin Doucette and Garrett Doucette; great-grandchildren, Brett and Grace McCloskey, Kai and Orca Lily McCloskey Guitar; sisters, Mary and Mabel Boyle; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Vera was predeceased by her sisters, Greta Grasse, Agnes Phillips, Serena Boyle (infant) and Loretta Kaley; brothers, Maurice, John, Frederick, James and Charles Boyle; brothers-in-law, Everette Grasse, Wilbert Phillips and Wendell Kaley.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 from 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated from St. Anthony’s Parish on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 11 am with Father Monte Peters as celebrant. Interment will take place in St. Anthony’s Cemetery at a later date. Our second family at York Care Centre will never realize the huge emotional cushioning they have lovingly provided to our family.
