Life Legacy
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Douglas “Doug” Waugh, of Douglas, NB on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at York Care Centre. Born on March 30, 1936, he was the son of the late Howard and Jean (Currie) Waugh.
Doug is survived by his siblings, Mavis Kendrick (Bill), Ann Miles, Melvin Waugh (Jenny), Bill Waugh (Linda); sister-in-law, Evelyn Waugh; brother-in-law, Ray Townsend; special great niece, Maddie who always put a smile on his face; many other nieces and nephews and their extended families. Besides his parents, Doug was predeceased by his siblings, Lloyd, Leone, Darrell and his wife Zada, Allison and his wife Mary, Carol and Gweneth; brother-in-law, Edwin Miles; nephews, Murray Waugh and Gordon Fraser; and Doug’s beloved dog, Fritz.
Not only was Doug a school teacher for many years, he was also known for his musical talents. He enjoyed playing for family, friends, church, school and other organizations. After retiring, Doug had opened his home to many international students attending the English Language program at UNB. Doug volunteered at York Care Centre and the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Enough can not be said about this wonderful man. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 12 – 2 pm followed by a Memorial Service at 2 pm with Rev. Canon Bill MacMullin officiating. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
